Using USB with NetBSD

The NetBSD operating system was the first Open Source operating system to include USB support. The GENERIC kernels shipped with NetBSD contains everything needed for using USB on a Toshiba notebook.

Drivers for keyboards, mice, audio, mass storage (USB floppy, ZIP), printers, ethernet etc. are supported by the usual driver interfaces, no further support or configuration is needed to use these devices.

Please see the download page for some optimized kernels & kernel config files. The peripherals page lists some tested USB components.

For more information regarding the NetBSD kernel, please see the NetBSD Kernel FAQ.
