TEX has very strong capabilities for typesetting mathematical formulas and non-standard fonts. The resulting output file (DVI-file, see above) is independent of the resolution of the output device, thus resulting in a very high quality of the document when printed or displayed on screen. A further advantage is the virtually unlimited extensibility through style files.
