Intro

Having that many different document formats demands a choice of programs for converting one into another, and doing other manipulations on documents in any of these formats. The availability and quality of such tools for a given format also make it more or less easy to deal with that format.

Table 2 gives a list of the most commonly used tools that are available for manipulating the document formats described in the previous chapter. Given are the name of the tool, the possible input- and output-formats as well as a URL where to get more information on that tool.
