[20051230] KerGIS
The KerGIS frontpage has a screenshot that makes me believe they use NetBSD (well, surprise, I got to them after someone posted about it on a NetBSD list ;). From the webpage: ``KerGIS is aimed to be a GIS kernel, that is to provide a complete set of efficient core primitives (graphical system calls) upon which one can build a dedicated application matching exactly a specialized GIS need.

KerGIS will be provided with a complete set of core libraries and a limited amount of essential userland tools.''

Sounds like (Net)BSD tailored for a specific application area. :)
