ACPI /dev/apm emulation
When it comes to power management (and more),
ACPI is far more powerful than APM. Yet, there's a lot of
software out there that uses APM and the interface provided
by it for quite some time now. In order to improve ACPI support
and yet remain backwards compatible (instead of changing all sort
of packages), Jared McNeill has worked on an APM emulation
that uses ACPI. See
