[20060909] OFinst: GUI installer application for NetBSD
As mentioned on EFnet #NetBSD, OFInst (OrangeFlag Installer) is a GUI installer for the NetBSD operating system. Its client/server structure is built on a top of the RWE protocol, with which it can perform advanced remote installations. See the project homepage for more information, including a bunch of interesting screenshots and a NetBSD 4.0_BETA based Live CD for testing the installer.

[20060712] ECBSD: Qt-based installer for NetBSD
The guys over at the #NetBSD blog mention ECBSD, which ``is a set of graphical tools written in QT especially made for an easy configuration and installation of NetBSD''. It comes with several programs do some basic system setup (e.g. for network, packages(!), XFree), and there are a bunch of screenshots available to fan your appetite.

[20050628] Moving towards install CDs
One can't deny that CDs outran floppy disks as install and data medium, and so it's about time for NetBSD to consider creating install CDs in addition to (not replacing!) the existing floppies. In context of a CD running some particular program(s), I have explained the challenges involved in another place, and to do something useful after sitting on a half-finished patch for compressed vnd handling, I chose to test Bang Jun-Young's "cdboot". There are still a few minor issues, but the general thing looks really really good. As soon as these issues are resolved, some thinking about shuffling in src/distrib/i386 can start.
